[Kickstarter] Ultimate Weapon - Battlefield by ~Dzoan
Hi everyone! What a surprise! An update???
I’m write this article to present you a project I worked on in 2007: Ultimate Weapon. For the 2007 release of the video game Assassin’s Creed, IFC Media Lab and Ubisoft organized an assassins themed short movie contest. Back then, I was doing an internship near L.A. in a studio that shot funny web videos. I met Greg Reid and Joel Poehlmann, 2 actors, who had entered the contest just 2 weeks from the deadline with a total budget of 800$ ^^’. They saw my portfolio and wanted to bring me onto the project. So I drew about 10 to 12 illustrations for the short, entitled Ultimate Weapon, in a week span aside my internship. Long story short, we won the 1st prize and the film is in the US collector edition of Assassin’s Creed.
Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gwVKNAEg0to
So what now? Greg and Joel want to relaunch the project after 5 years and make a web series out of Ultimate Weapon, the first episode being the winning short. They called me back once again to take care of the illustrations and concept art. The first time was great so why not do it again? But to make this project work, we need money (Ha! There he goes :p). We are launching a Kickstarter campaign and hope to find support from the audience: you guys ! Any contribution is important, whatever the amount and we thank you in advance for your help.

Tomb Raider Reborn contest entry by ~Dzoan
This is my entry for the DA Tomb Raider Reborn contest.
Had a lot of fun doing it. I kinda waited the last minute to do it because I wanted to play the game before doing my illustration.
I guess it was to get a better understanding of the character and what she went through during her journey. So that’s why I depicted her like this: tired, wounded, dirty, with a raging expression, the will to survive. She almost became an animal. Before that she was just a regular (…OK super rich ^^’) 21 years old girl, who freshly got out of the University with a thirst for adventure.

Link the Hero of Time by ~Dzoan
Third livestream on Twitch (still in French since there are no English speaking viewers yet): I numbered it 2V2 since the Pokemon stream was erased…… So this time I decided to draw Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Aside few slow moments during the 2nd part, I had fun doing it and it seems that I have quite a good memory (except for a detail on the shield which the chat helped me with ;p) ^^.

Protect Your Art Career - Stephen Silver
good advice. Don’t just take it for “experience” or “exposure”.
I’ve had people coming to ask me relentlessly to draw something for their story or game or whatever, and say that I’d be doing it for “exposure” because SO MANY people are going to be reading their book, and even after I politely explained why I wouldn’t do anything for free unless you’re a REALLY GOOD friend, they kept on telling me why it would be a good idea for me to do it for them for free. (by the way, please stop if you’re doing it D; )
And even when you’re doing commissions or any type of freelance, make sure they pay even just half of it upfront first, or if they refuse to do upfront payment, make them sign a contract with you or something so you can hold them more legally to compensating you for your work.
Darkstalkers Embrace the Dark - Dullahan by ~Dzoan
It’s been a while since I published something here… Sorry…
Here’s my submission for the Character Design contest organized by Capcom for the soon to be released Darkstalkers Resurrection on PSN and XBoxLive. I had to create an original character which could be in the game roster and find inspiration from horror movies, folklore, mythology etc…
Therefore I chose the Dullahan. It was a last minute participation so there might be few corrections to make but overall I had fun doing it.
